• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I'm sure someone has mentioned this outfit before but I can't remember what the outcome was. So, has anyone had any experience of Cinnamon Press services: mentoring, manuscript appraisal, courses or even competitions etc???

2016 was my year of entering competitions, in an attempt to raise my profile as a writer, by perhaps being placed in a shortlist. This meant writing fresh material, as most organisers only accept previously unpublished material. In a flush of enthusiasm, I'd already uploaded nearly all of my poetry, short stories and novellas to Smashwords and Amazon, making it ineligible.

I had a go at a couple of Cinnamon's competitions, but the fees were hefty for me. I didn't get anywhere, though the winning entries were of a high quality.
