I subscribe to a number of writers' blogs, including one written by the daughter of a close friend. For many years, she's been struggling to get recognition as a writer, having articles and short stories published by small independents and online magazines.

Like many of us, she was torn between self-publishing and going the traditional route, by attaining the services of a literary agent. After scores of rejections, she sought help on querying from a writer she admires, Ronlyn Domingue. She used her advice and has just been offered representation.

This author recently started an Editing Services business, which proves that even successful writers need a regular income. It's a well-presented site and she comes across as modest, open and approachable.

On the 'For Writers' section, there's a link to a downloadable PDF titled 'Writers' File'. It's only 345.1kb and is well-worth a look, as it offers succinct and accurate opinions about the business of writing—including websites and advice books.

She strongly recommends joining a writing community—which we have—the best one, The Colony! :)
