I have a jaundiced opinion of Bookouture, as detailed in an old thread in the Back Room:

What I think they're good at is promoting books...they're very slick. My reading experience of a best-selling crime novel published by them was quite the most depressing experience I've endured! I'd be fascinated to know how many people who were suckered in to making a purchase from Bookouture read their digital books on their smartphones while commuting or in their lunch breaks—as a time-killing distraction, rather than an enjoyable reward—also, how many readers actually completed the story.
