• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

The Bookseller today has a feature, Frankfurt 2022: agents' hotlists. (I'm not posting a link because it may be fire-walled – I have a subscription – but try to see it.)

I found it fascinating, a genuine, professional master class in Writing A Hook. (Mine is much too wordy – I see that now.)

Also useful in showing what certain agents do actively represent – contrast with the tiresome vague general waffle they put on their web bio.

Fascinating! I shall be reviewing my hooks very carefully from now on.
