So, as a wee publicity stunt, Air NA sent a letter to George RR Martin offering to fly him to NZ to finish his last GOT book. He wrote back saying he's got plenty of money to fly himself here, and in fact he's coming to NZ for the 2020 International Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention. He suggested that Air NZ offer free tickets to 20 of his fans instead so they can attend the con. Air NZ said, "That sounds like a great idea!" Still no word on how the lucky 20 will be chosen, but I thought some of you might be interested. I'll post more info as soon as it's available.

And I'm more than happy to host a Litopia meet-up before or after the Con ...

Keen! I'm hoping to get down there - maybe do a tour of Weta Workshop at the same time :)
I've signed up to help out with it. Looking forward to it! Unless you're willing to fork out a huge sum for the Weta Workshop tour, it's not worth your while. I went a year or so ago, and the part that's open for free is nothing but a glorified gift shop. You can see a couple of the props/costumes from the movies, and that's it, except for heaps of overpriced movie memorabilia. I was glad it was a glorious day when I bused and walked out there from the meeting I was attending in Wellington, because otherwise the trip would have been wasted. As it was, I enjoyed the journey, if not the destination.

Bummer. Their Gallipoli exhibit at Te Papa was phenomenal, so I thought it would be in league with that. Sounds like it isn't though. Shame :( Oh well, guess I'll just stick to admiring their work in film format, as was originally intended.

Yeah, they do some visually interesting exhibit work (though as a professional heritage interpreter, I find they too often choose glitz over interactivity and message...they are essentially a film studio, after all).
