Was trying to determine the genre of my current two WIP's, and I came across this 'genre map'. It helped me a lot, and I can safely say that I am now writing novels that fit into the following genres.

Young Adult Steam Punk, with a decent splash of Comedy / Romance and Environmental issues.

I didn't know I was writing to the 'steam punk' genre, but it makes sense; I have lots of other world technology going on and all I have to do is add the odd character with a wrench, in overalls and a cloth cap tapping a boiler to complete the experience.

Where does your WIP fit in? Surely it crosses over more than one genre?

Genre Map, Literary Map

I think that the needle on my literary compass is bent, for navigating the genre map I see that my novels straddle the Mystery and Thriller genres. I think they satisfy the requirements of a psychological thriller, but the plotline includes sub-genres of forensic and police procedural. As the action takes place in the mythical county of Cornwall, I've also referred to legends, myths and paranormal activity—things such as knockers, piskies and the dreaded Beast of Bodmin.

The Cornish Tourist Board are going to love me!

Surely Cornwall is a bona fide county?
