• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Now Death Will Us Part, a nasty story of undying love, is one of 23 short stories in Black Coffee, a collection of mystery noir which was released last week. This is my first short story to be included in an anthology. :)

Now that must be a great feeling!! :) Many congratulations! May I ask, was your story spotted by a compiler, or was there a call for anthology submissions which you responded to?

I responded to a call for submissions

I responded to a call for submissions
You got there on merit then. Some anthologies I have seen, that were not based on a submissions call, show a suspiciously close relationship between editor and authors ... e.g. same creative writing course, or same geographical location, or overlap in employment, etc. Am I cynical? Er -- yes.

Have to admit at least one of the editors and I both live in the Bay Area but we've not met, in person, yet. The call for submissions went out through Sisters in Crime, an organization I heartily recommend to other mystery writers - female or otherwise. There are now "brothers" in the organization, too.
