• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Whatcha Reading?

I've been reading my own first novel The Perfect Murderer. Not so much reading it, as dissecting it. This is not fun, and has made me consider the relationship we have with the structure and content of our writing. I'll start another thread about this: You and Your Manuscript.

I'll be interested to see that. How are you with plotting? I have been baaaad with in-depth advance plotting this first completed novel, and it has cost me mucho, mucho, more time and work than it otherwise might have, without a doubt. I started on it as a bit of fun, not knowing I would even finish. Won't do it that way again.

Oh you're asking 'watcha reading' lol! I thought the 'cha' was a special astrology term. Like the nine star ki ..I immediately got confused with all the other responses. Confusion never stopped me before though. But NOW I get it!

I'm reading 'How to Write' and 'Periodic Tales'. Non - fiction. :)

Lady Emerald, is that better? Now, about this nine star ki.....

I downloaded an app by Rachel Elnaugh on the nine star ki. Found it curious.

I do like a historical novel, so to that end I am reading Dictator by Robert Harris
I am reading a biography of Elan Musk
I am reading a history of Summer, Assyria, Ur and Babylonia
