What's Going On

I just started reading a new book at bedtime. Making Evil: The Science Behind Humanity's Dark Side sends me into peaceful slumbers. Writers are weird, at least I am!
Must remember not to use irony on Twitter. It's more trouble than it's worth.

Yes, I have cause to be extremely grateful to it. I have also been able to interact with some authors too which is fab.

And true, it’s not all angry eejits but sadly there are still too many compared to what there used to be when it was all just fields round here.

Book Twitter? Qu'est-ce que c'est? Something one can waste endless hours on? If so I'm in.

Or is it this? Twitter Books

Ah I may have worked it out. Do you mean general chatter etc.about books on Twitter? I see that relates to an old post too.

I still haven't sussed out everything on here.

Book Twitter, Lit Twitter...yes, general chatter about books. Once you follow a critical mass of authors, agents, publishers and book bloggers you are in the Book Twitterverse. You can also use the #WritingCommunity.
It used to be a generally pleasant part of Twitter, but politics and pile-ons (JK Rowling and David Walliams, most recently) have made it regrettably rather toxic at times.
Note to self: don't eat pistachio spread while typing out the synopsis. Pistachio spread and typing? No no no.

I hope you licked it all off the keys.

Would be dreadful to waste it...

Oh yes, of course. I even licked the screen just in case of splatters. Luckily, I've learnt thorough licking from my cat. He wasn't watching as it happened though (busy snoozing) but I'm sure he'd have been impressed.
Glory be! My local library is sort-of reopening. Requested books can be collected from the entrance hall, but no going inside to browse the shelves, as that's deemed too risky!
I recently bought a Røde microphone for £102. I also bought an acoustic guitar for £50. Peter Freedman, owner of Røde, just bought Kurt Cobain’s Martin acoustic guitar for $6,01,000...a new world record. Something tells me I went wrong somewhere! Kurt Cobain's 'MTV Unplugged' guitar sells for 'record' $6M
I'm done with panicking about my work situation courtesy of the lockdown. As of now, I'm now going to view this time as a long writing holiday or else I'll lose the plot.
Our server went down this morning for about 30 mins, for reasons as yet unknown. If you ever find that Litopia is unavailable, it’s a good idea to check our Twitter feed, that’s where I’ll keep folk updated.

Do you use Parler and or MeWe?
AgentPete

No, there are so many social media platforms now! Are they good?

I don't know about MeWe, but Parler seems to be a huge draw for the trolling brigade on Twitter, judging by the amount of gloating they're doing about it. Most of the authors I follow who've tried Parler have hastily left it again, reporting high levels of toxic commentary.
Again, this will only be of interest to narrators, but I've just discovered the joy of Macros (used to be called Chains) which make mastering of a recording easy, applying all the changes in one go! I love it when technology actually works.
My fellow narrators on the Colony will understand my elation at finally mastering a chapter that meets ACX requirements. Now, I've got to do it 37 more times!
One thing no one ever tells you about being an adult, is how much time you spend debating with yourself about keeping a cardboard box because it’s, like, a really good box.

Darn it. Too white, too middle class, too straight. Would being old and poor count?

NB. one and all. Deadline extended!

"We know that many people might be feeling overwhelmed at having to take the time to apply to WriteNow during the current protests against racial injustice which are unfolding in the US, the UK and around the world. As a result, we’ve extended the deadline for WriteNow to midnight on Tuesday 2nd June to give writers a little more time to prepare their applications."

OK, that IS today, I know. But it's not midnight yet.
