Whatever you think about astrology, it's still fun to find that someone famous was born on the same date as you. It may be more chilling to find that someone you admire died when you popped into the world. Or, perhaps some significant historical event occurred on the day you were born.
As a young fan of The Beatles, back in the 1960s, I was fascinated that George Harrison was born on my birthdate of February 25th, albeit 11 years before. In my twenties and interested in cinema, I found that film producer David Puttnam was also born on February 25th, thirteen years before me. It's impossible for me not to look for connections, for commonalities in behaviour with two such creatives.
It would be great if I shared my birthdate with a favourite author, but such is not the case. As for significant world events, the end of February is a quiet time, though Gamel Abdul Nasser became premier of Egypt on the day I was born—he went on to seize the Suez canal from British control. Also, Cassius Clay, as Muhammad Ali was then called, wrested the heavyweight boxing world championship from Sonny Liston. I was ten on that day, and his victory prompted a lifelong interest in boxing.
Do you share a birthdate with anyone famous?
Did someone significant shuffle off their mortal coil when you appeared?
What historical event happened on the day you were born?
