• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

My mate Roger Ashton-Griffiths has just got a PhD. In his day job, he plays Mace Tyrell in Game of Thrones, and someone on Twitter congratulated him by saying 'Congratulations Lord Tyrell PhD.'

It led me to wonder what the PhD titles of various well-known characters would be. (You could also write their theses as a whole new form of fiction, but that would be a lot harder work.)

For example:
Hermione Grainger PhD: 'Magical Traits, A Genetic or Epigenetic Legacy?'
Homer Simpson PhD: 'The Topography of Ring Donuts as Applied to Taste and Consumability'

Over to you...

Miss Jane Marple PhD 'Applied Theoretical Reasoning Comparable to the Inner Workings of Quaint English Villages and their Occupants'

Mr Hercule Poirot BA ' Psychology, Observation and Moustache Trimming for the Belgian Gentleman'

Well, Lord Tyrell would have degrees both in human resource management and viticulture...
Yeah, let's swing back 'round to the fact that you're mates with Mace Tyrell.
BUH-DASS.
