• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

The losses came like sharp knives and dull axes,
And bitter thoughts became an aching slur,
An anger turning grief to unpaid taxes,
A mighty void where those I loved once were.
The man inside knows now it's time to heal.
The boy inside shrieks, “Men don't cry, you coward!”
And so the knot inside ties tight as steel,
And all the bright and happy thoughts are scoured.
“You need to get some help,” says one who cares.
At length I hear these words the boy detests,
At length the talking starts to clear the air,
At length the knot is worked to be unstressed.
And then I hear the truth told plain and chaste:
“It's over, they're at peace, and you are safe.”

Thanks, Jonny, they're better out in the world rather than crowding my head, even if they don't make the prettiest of sonnets!
