• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I recognise some of the symptoms and problems mentioned in this piece, starting with becoming an even more of a hermit than I normally am. And inspiration does hit in the most insane moments. As for not being taken seriously or not taking myself seriously, that's dead on.

Read and see if this strickes a chord.

11 Things No One Tells You About Being a Writer

Nope, not a hermit here. I'm a really social and extrovert person, not even writing is going to ever change that. It's just my partner and my cat have to accept that there are "writing times" when I will not bear to be disturbed :D

I'll admit I'm quite the introvert and I do find that the more seriously I take myself as a writer the more others do too. It took a while but I needed to reach my own self-made targets to do this..including just writing! lol All the time.

I find that writing lately has taken me out of being a hermit and becoming more sociable. One excellent example is coming onto Litopia! Another is that I am now part of a writer's group in my area. I am even thinking of joining a book reading club locally.

Of course when we are writing we are engaging in a solitary endeavour. I adore those quiet, thoughtful times when I write. But not the rest of the time.

However, I totally agree with the inspiration. In fact I am still trying to bring about good solutions to capturing those moments, thoughts, snippets, information, advice that result from that inspiration. Now that would be helpful if someone could tell me how to do it!

I am even thinking of joining a book reading club locally. It's a big scary world with people in it but I still venture out.

Of course when we are writing we are engaging in a solitary endeavour. I adore those quiet, thoughtful times when I write. The same goes for reading time - what bliss.

However, I totally agree with the comment about inspiration. In fact I am still trying to bring about good solutions to capture those moments, thoughts, snippets, information, advice that result from that inspiration. Now that would be helpful if someone could tell me how to do that!

I'm probably about as extroverted as an introvert can be. I need to be. The phone rings and people want to know about readings. Sometimes they are upset and need to feel safe in the conversation. Press people ring and want to pick my brains. But the core of it all is solitude, Tarot or writing. They come from the same place.
