• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hi all,

A quick one about tenses. I know there are three (past, present, future) but I seem to be switching between them. It's probably something very basic! Does anyone have any advice?

Nic

Hi Nic, there are rather more than three tenses in English. I'd suggest you stick an example of the switching in the Writing Groups and ask there for advice. With an example it'll be easier for us to see what the problem is. :)

Hi Rich,

I'm obviously getting confused somewhere - it's been a long day! There is an example up there already so I'm hoping the folks over there will let me know the solution :)

Oh, I see. Is the example this one? I didn't see you asking there about tenses. Am I missing something? If your question is general, it's ok to talk about it here in Café Life, but if it's specific to a work in progress, it's better to chat about it in the Groups.

Either way, happy to help.
