This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

James, I think it could be construed as an insensitive title, especially to someone of the Muslim faith (which I am not).

As indeed could The Bible. There are plenty of films, books and videos of that title out there. How about 'Satanic Verses' for a title? 'The Sword of Allah' is in fact the soubriquet that was given to Muhammad's army commander. He was an amazing general. There's no hope if authors (or apprentices like me) start getting sensitive about titles!

It could equally have been The Drawn Sword of Allah...as a title for a fighting commander. Sensitive. Definitely. But that is a designation that's been used in real life, as in Frederick Forsyth's techno-thriller about Saddam...The Fist of God, about the super-gun.
