• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Earlier this morning I was sitting at my desk, lost somewhere down the YouTube warren, when the video below pops up on my sidebar as a suggestion.

"What the heck is this?" I ask myself.

But as soon as I press play, immediately, I'm drawn in by the beautiful acoustic guitar and the fact the guy playing it is clearly blind. I recognise this because he's playing in the same way the brilliant, but sadly no longer with us, Jeff Healey did.

Six minutes later I am sobbing uncontrollably. The song, the imagery evoking so many childhood memories and the genius of musicianship are gobsmackingly brilliant.

I have since delved a little deeper and I am totally in awe of this man.

Thanks to a certain someone (cough cough), I'm getting stuff from Tripadvisor, like the suggestion for a curry house in Belfast (I see it had a good review. If ever I go to Belfast, I'll know where to eat) .... Having said that, it seems to have stopped. I haven't had any suggestions for a few days. The last one was a list of the "best local taxis".

I lament the demise of the long defunct Nokia Mix Radio which I had on my phone a decade ago, introducing me to a whole heap of new music which hit the spot long after I thought there was nothing new out there for me.
It doesn't always work, but when it does, it's magic.
As yer man from Gorillaz says, 'Algorithm is a Dancer.'

I expect they stopped spamming you as they somehow got wind of just exactly who they'd been messing with. :)

Yeah, I thought Prog Rock could've been my specialist subject on Mastermind, but this had slipped past me.

Turns out he's now a fulltime member of Camel. But There's one of his albums on Spotify (as T M Ts) and I'm now looking forward to listening to it.

Quite made my day, this has.

That would be for when you fall out of the curry house, drunk and incapable!
