One of the Litopian guests (anyone remember who?) recommended this book by Su Bristow. It sounded right up my alley, so I read it and really enjoyed it. It’s an accessible read and fairly light, although I did struggle a bit with reconciling the original behavior of the protagonist when he first encounters the selkie. He moved toward redeeming himself by the end, to an extent, although I wasn’t able to forgive him. Still, it was a sweet story overall, cozy (for my standards anyway—full disclosure—I like dark). A slight magical realism vibe, but not overdone. And set in a Scottish fishing village, so loads of rugged gorgeousness, which set my pulse racing!
