• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

Poetry Rock 'n' Roll

The World Between the Words
A hot chick told me she liked my style.
She said, “Hey man, dance with me awhile.”
So we smoothed and jived across the room.
In rock ‘n’ roll groove, my heart went BOOM!

We bopped to the left, then to the right.
I said, “Hey babe, we can rave all night.”
The music soared as pants caught fire.
We hit the max, took the whole scene higher.

She changed the rhythm and danced the tap,
turned around and did a hip-hop-rap,
then jitterbugged to a two-tone pass,
a glam-rock stomp and shaking-that-ass.

And I jumped up with a rebel YELL
as my eyes went POP to her can-can spell.
We twisted, bumped, whirled and twirled,
did the locomotion and rocked the world.

She tripped a one-step, two-step, three-step, four,
dirty dancing and I cried, “Encore!”
Then we bounced and flounced to an uptown beat,
the funky chicken and I felt the heat.

So we danced the smooch and I held het tight,
kissed her cheek and she never took flight.
I said, “Hey, girl. Luv ya! You’re so sweet.”
She said, “Goodbye! You’ve got two left feet.”
