• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence
    • Don't take offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Arthur C. Clarke & Bradbury used to have a healthy rivalry in Sci-Fi. At the end of his novel 'Imperial Earth', Arthur told the following anecdote, told to him by Bradbury, about a phenomenon in the Sci-Fi writing community subsequently known as 'Bradbury's defence': A boy walked up to Bradbury at a Sci-Fi convention asking:
Boy: "You know that book of yours, 'The Martian Chronicles'?"
Bradbury: "Yeah?"
Boy: "You know, on p.93, where you have both moons on Mars rising in the East?"
Bradbury: "Yeah?"
Boy: "Nah!"
Bradbury: "So I hit him!"

So I wouldn't believe Bradbury about absolutely everything:cool:
