Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.
This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.
Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…
We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

"Books: they're bookish, them"
some bloke down t' pub
Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.
Ecclesiastes 12:12
If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.
–Haruki Murakami
Sorry. It's just the way they pasted from where I found them.Bold statements BOLDLY put.
What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree, with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny, dark squiggles. But one glance at it, and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.
Carl Sagan
I like this one in particular! The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame.
