• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Whew...I thought you were going to say it's due to a flood of ChatGPT submissions.
Well, people are indeed fretting about that in publishing at the moment, altho’ I haven’t yet encountered anyone who knows for certain that they’ve received one (let alone accepted one). Remember, there’s an awful lotta hype about ChatGPT at the moment, which will continue until the VCs have made sufficient money :)

It appears to be able to ape some authors’ writing styles for a few paras, but I haven’t seen evidence that it can create or sustain a book-length plot.

This may become more of an issue with Kindle self-pubs, tho.

I’m not freaked out by ChatGPT. I think it only confirms my belief that writers need to be emboldened to develop their own unique and powerful authorial voices.

And… we have to get a lot better at self-marketing and at developing close relationships with our readers.

Both of which I hope Litopia will help everyone to achieve.
