• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Not since I got Tiffany Yates Martins book, Intuitive Editing, on audible have I found a more useful writing aid.

Vonnegut was a founding teacher at the Iowa Creative Writing course. I've always thought that vaunted course a bit over rated. I imagined every morning an attendant having to go around and pull students head out of their navals lest they disappear altogether. But Vonnegut was one of the first teachers and those must have been the Wonder Years that made its reputation. Since he learned his craft writing for magazines he states unequivocally-as a writer your job is entertainer. If yu want to be published. That was drummed into him by magazine editors. Yes you have to say something meaningful, tap into some truth that resonates-but if you don't entertain while yu do that no one will read you.
