I prided myself in singularity
My clarity, my regularity
I’ve always been an unbroken wave,
In love’s vengeful sea.

But now you’ve got me searching songs,
Singing songs, sending songs.
They all go: You first loved me,
Awakened me, completed me.

And I can write same song, new tune
Of requited desire, warm and true
Or we could pair notes, you and I,
Lyrics whispered between us two.
