• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Stars beneath fingertips

Sunrise between hips

Each time a shock, each day born anew

Your only certainty—I’d also seek you.

Touch me again when night whispers once more.

Remind me my need with you, lover, to soar.

I can’t get away from this one, and it’s grown much longer… not really sure which version I like more.

surrender

Stars beneath fingertips, sun between hips
Magic uncovers the tenderest lips.

You merely searching for someone who searched for you.
I making peace with past enemies once I knew

Words pass through touch, others out loud.
Share fear with me, and I’ll show you my doubt.

But wait— what’s this weakness, who have I become?
Why do I wish for you always at home?

Why can’t I leave you, why can’t I let go?
Time slipped and I fell and I’m moving too slow.

Or I’m moving too fast— on rapids I race
Lost all control, heart breaking pace

If I keep fighting I’ll snap in this tide,
Flooding my lungs, against rocks collide

Or I’ll soften, I’ll loosen, I’ll join water’s dance.
Moon’s pull, once violent, will gently advance.

No more resistance, love’s always been in me.
No more denial, you’re always my safety.

I’ll cleanse you with warmth when night lessens day’s splendor.
Drink my affection, accept my surrender.
