• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Thanks, Nikki. I'll give this a go! Do you send me the link? I want to get another 20-25k of my SF novel done if possible. I've written 26k so far. I am on holiday from 23 July so need to squeeze as much in as possible between now and then. I've already written 636 words (and done about 4 hrs editing) this month but not sure if i can backdate.
Nikky has posted all the info & Links at the top of the thread, Trey. :) You can tailor your tracker (if you use it) however you like. It's cool. Or just join in and post updates here. All good. Whatever serves.

It's got character and just the right degree of spicy intrigue 😊

Hey, Laura ! I think you made two posts on my site. Was that you both times? I responded :)

I had the comment section locked down so every post had to be approved. It's open now. Prolly setting myself up for Russian spambots peddling crypto or mail-order ganja. Let's see how it goes for now.

Ah, yes. I made a comment bytbthw Internet was being, you know, jungley and kept dying so I didn't think it posted, so did another one.

Sorry about that. It's not you; it's me. I edited my post above to explain what happened.

Seriously cool you showed up! I didn't even make MaggieMie.

Anyhoo...writing was a bust last night. I spent too much time tinkering with my site. By the time I got to The Blue, exhaustion hit me like a train. So I did some easy editing and wound up with maybe 50 words in the plus column. I'll do better tonight.

You are the first to post on my site, BTW :)

Not underwhelmed at all, quite the opposite. But I think it deserves more than the quick lunchtime glance I gave it yesterday, so I've bookmarked it for a deeper dive when I get chance later on.

Back in the 90s, I taught myself html and had one of the earliest personal pages outside of Geocities. Alas, my enthusiasm has waned over the years and Litopia is as out there as I get. Maybe someday I'll find spare hours to lose in website construction.

Thanks, Rach. I really appreciate you stopping by.

I've never done any webdev before. Didn't have Internet until 1998. I'm running WordPress with the bone-stock Gutenberg editor. It feels like putting together a spaceship with duct tape, at times. Started with the default "2025" theme, and worked from there. No code so far, but I may need to add some HTML to get what I want.

I also learned html and Dreamweaver back in the day. But now there are great hosting packages out there that take all the pain out of making a website. Which is a good thing b/c I can't remember anything about Dreamweaver now. ha. I use WIX for mine and it's easy as.

I use WordPress and it's a pain in the ass.

another three chapters revised. On the page count, I'm sitting at 31 out of 144, so 20 percent complete. But, as noted, it will get a lot harder pretty soon. I liked this stuff and for another four or five chapters. Just tidying up, really. The heavy lifting at this pace arrives early next week.

Another two chapters rewritten over the course of today and yesterday. Not bad going with nine hours on duty. The writing gets done before and after work, the thinking about it and listening back to what I've written takes place in the car between home visits.

Trackbear working for me so far - I'm surprised as I can't often get the hang of these sorts of things.

Yep, all the info is at the top of the thread. And yes, you can backdate :) (I use this feature a lot when I forget to log on the actual day).

This is why I turned off my website's comment feature. Not crypto but sunglasses ads of all things.

I've tried to add stuff to trackbear, but failed.
Have you tried setting up a project? Trackbear usually needs to have a project to assign the the words/chapters to.

Update: no update from me today. I meant to write last night but the moment I sat down on the couch I had an unintentional 2-hour nap instead.
