• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence
    • Don't take offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.

I'm getting too much of "what happens to you" is an elaborate production number in which people SAY they are going to do something, and don't. The only proper response I can think of to something like that is to walk away. Latest example: An online critique group reviewing my play and it gradually becomes clear they didn't read it. They had, I guess, skimmed it. (Later I gave it yet another rewrite--not using an suggestions from the group-- and sent it off to a literary magazine.)
