Indeed. Authors may be introverts, many are, but they have a quiet passion. I've often said that writers have something that publishers desperately need: there's a psychological essay to be written on this, certainly.

Bloodless introverts? I bet you can find a higher density at a physics conference. I wrote a chapter on the topic and it is so bitter that it needs to be cut.
