Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

In Poland, carp is the traditional Christmas meal -- equivalent to turkey or goose in the UK. The scales of the fish are supposed to bring good luck, and older Polish ladies may keep some scales in their bras over the Christmas period. If there is a guest in the house over Christmas, he or she may be presented with these carefully harboured scales.
Look, don't shoot the messenger, okay, I am just passing this on.
Thanks Marc What amazes me is that canny Poles get hold of a carp before Christmas to beat the price inflation as christmas nears - they keep the rascal in the bath until it's preparation time.

Bottom feeders. Yikes. We might be cannibals via the food chain. Or dining on poo. Up north, haddock is favoured over cod. Stopping at a chippy late one night in Perth, heading up to Helmsdale, hub walked in, the man took one look, decided....southern... and growled 'before ye ask....NAE cod, just haddock.'
Hub said, great, I always ask for haddock anyway!
It was the right answer.

Bottom feeders and let's not even get started on the shell fish.

  • Sole
