Hi everyone. Having found the right forum – thanks @CageSage – a brief intro.
I’m learning as a writer, and have been doing so for more years than I care to remember.
I’ve had a sci-fi series published by Millennium, and have self-published a novel of my own. I’ve also had newspaper articles printed, contributed 100 monthly columns for an expat magazine in Malaysia, and even came second in a Time-Out travel writing competition.
Currently I am writing a fantasy series set in a Romanesque world, and have so far completed approx. 350,000 words of an estimated million.
Alongside that I’ve most recently been writing the first two books in a children’s series, one of which appeared on Pop-Up a few weeks back, getting two 5 star ratings from the guests, but only a seemingly reluctant 3 from Pete. And therein, always, has lain my problem; some folk think what I do is great, and some don’t. Agents seem to fall predominantly into the second category!
I guess I’m here to continue my learning; to pick up some pointers from other writers that resonate with me and suggest ways I can improve so that I can move an agent from a ‘Good, but ...’ response into ‘Yes, please’.
