A relatively recent interview with Christopher Vogler. It's more like a lecture with prompts. It's 2h:16m long but has some good timestamps in the description and there's also a playlist on the channel with different parts of the interview.
He not only warns against using the hero's journey as a formula but says that any story following it strictly is bound to be boring and predictable, and any storyteller is obligated to twist and turn it to subvert expectations.
