• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Sorry if you already heard, but I just saw this.

Bookseller, this morning:
"Double Booker prize winner Hilary Mantel, best known for the Wolf Hall trilogy, has died aged 70.
Literary agency A M Heath and her publisher HarperCollins said she died “suddenly and peacefully” on 22nd September..."

OMG! I went to her talk last November at the Borders Book Festival. She autographed my copies of her books. She said she might return to short stories, that she wouldn't live another fifteen years which is how long she spent on the Wolf Hall trilogy. She did suffer ongoing ill health, but goodness! RIP

(I wonder what Cromwell and Anne Boleyn will say to her concerning her depiction of them.)
