• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hello,

I'm Christopher. I'm from New Zealand and I'm just starting to write seriously. I'm currently working on my first novel and some anthology entries and just getting into the swing of things..

I like to write adventure fantasy about younger characters, usually in the 'medieval' vein. Including about dragons.

Thanks.

Hi there, Christopher,
I'm a newcomer too. Still finding my way around, but it's a wonderfully friendly place, and I'm settling in already. I'm sure you and your dragons will feel right at home.
Rachel :)

Hi @Dragonrider , a very warm welcome to the colony.

Nice to have you here. Best thing to do is dive in as soon as you'd like to.

To find your way around, this is a good place to check out (How-to guide). You'll be able to see a lot of what goes on in here.

If anything is unclear do please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist if I can.

Kia ora @Dragonrider! Welcome to the Colony! I'm in NZ too--Canterbury based. Are you familiar with SpecFicNZ--our Speculative Fiction organisation in NZ? It's a great community (like this one is!) and offers workshops, reviews, and opportunities for members. They currently have a call out for a new anthology, too, if you're keen.

Funny that, I've just joined SpecFicNZ, will contribute to this year's anthology (I had an old character lying around for years who slotted perfectly into the theme) and have submitted the first part of my major work for a review.

I'm from Auckland.
