• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

hello to all! i'm brooke, an aspiring teenage writer who uses any pronouns. i've drafted two novels before and i'm currently writing my third, which i plan to publish before the end of 2024. all my books are in the YA LGBTQ+ genre -- write what you want to read, right?
i've been told i'm a great writer, especially for my age, but i'm always looking to improve! i would love tips on getting published as a young author, but i'll take any tips i can get! please feel free to message me about anything.
i'll be posting a piece of writing soon to just show what i can do, but it honestly might be pretty bad -- i wrote it around this time last year, and i've barely proofread it, so... beware! i wish i could post something more polished and up-to-date, but that's currently the only digital piece of writing i have (i usually write on an old, old, old electric typewriter in the basement, ha).
please do critique my work, or just reach out if you want to be friends. i'm open to peer-reviewing others' work and providing feedback, though i don't have much expertise in anything but high school, haha!
see you soon!

I love the scene, the setting of the electric typewriter in the basement, the teen girl pouring words, perhaps her soul, onto reams of paper. Reaching out to be friends, I am. And I hated high school, too. Looking forward to reading your unpolished, but no doubt beautiful, writing.

Hi, again @Brooke! I won't repeat everything I mentioned on your other thread, but welcome to the Colony. I hope you're managing to navigate the site okay now and have found what you're looking for – but, as ever, if you have any questions just get in touch. Look forward to seeing you around the Colony.
