• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Hello All

I'm Steve from Queensland, Australia. I have completed by first novel, Augmosis about 6 months ago and have been seeking agent representation since. Gotten close in a few instances with positive feedback, but there aren't too many agents or publishers in Australia that are interested in Sci-Fi / Thrillers. I'm still on the lookout if anyone can make recommendations (including in the UK and US).

The cover blub for Augmosis is:

A century after a global catastrophe, the remnants of humanity live in an augmented utopia where everything from a person’s appearance, to the very architecture of the cities around them has been re-sculpted. This shared augmented experience, where flesh and bone are overlaid with virtual projections is called, “The Collective”. But in this seemingly perfect society, several murders lead Detective Hal Briggs, an outcast in his department, from anomalies through to conspiracy, with the unpopular consequences likely to rock the society to its core. At the same time, sculptor Carli Dawes faces a crisis of purpose when she begins to discover that the Collective seems to be actively pushing back against some of the freedoms she holds dear, and that fighting for those freedoms will come at great personal cost.

For anyone interested in reading the first three chapters and providing feedback, please feel free to download it at:

Hello there and welcome to the group.
Hope you find everything you need here.

On another note, Agent Pete has a brilliant seminar here about how to write killer blurbs. You might find it interesting.

Hey Steve, from another Aussie (Sydney). Why not upgrade your membership and come to a Southern Huddle? Be lovely to meet you :)
Hi @RK Wallis - That might be a good idea. I'm still learning how this community works. All of my writing to date has been in relative isolation, other than bothering my wife or kids to read something half-finished.

Probably best to gently ease in. Have a read of how other writers critique other writers, or come to a Huddle and just listen. Prepare yourself. Having your own writing critiqued is sooo helpful but not comfortable.

Hi @tyes , a very warm welcome to the colony.

Nice to have you here and hope you find Litopia a fun and informative community.

This is a good place to check out (How-to guide) to see a lot of what goes on in the colony.

If anything is unclear do please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist if I can.

Looking forward to meeting you on Wednesday in the Huddle.
