Michele
Basic
Hi, I'm Michele (Shelly), a born and raised Angeleno who writes from the corner of the junk room, usually with a cat in my lap or on the desk.
My reading tastes fluctuate between horror and crime thrillers. I prefer the paranormal to slashers or gore-fests, but don’t shy away from anything except animal death. It’s a borderline psychotic reaction. I cried so hard during a scene in the Rise of the Planet of the Apes in which CGI Caesar was being mistreated that I had to leave the theater.
A quick glance at my TBR pile at the edge of my desk: Deadly Honeymoon by Lawrence Block, The Bottoms by Joe R. Lansdale, a couple of Lee Child's, and Choke Hold by Christa Faust.
My first book, a sci-fi/humor/horror called Like Real, comes out in August from Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing. My second, a more traditional horror story, is being shopped. My most recent work started as a horror novella, but I think it might become a short novel. I’ve written about a dozen short stories but only one made it into an anthology. This is a sore spot for me, and I hope to workshop a few in hopes of finding them loving homes.
I'm excited to be here!
