• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hello all! Just joined Litopia and it looks very interesting!
Short blurb about me : I ran away from home in England at 18 and ended up singing and playing guitar on the streets in Paris. I then danced at the Crazy Horse Saloon before becoming a Producer for French television for over twenty years, where I produced cultural programs for adults and game shows for children (a strange combination, a bit like me). Finally, my love for art and architecture emboldened me to leave Paris to buy and restore 2 châteaux in the depths of the French countryside. But none of this has stopped me from writing novels for young children and literary erotica (yes, once again, a strange combination…). I am now finally ready to try and get two novels published - one adventure novel for middle graders and one literary erotic novel (under different names, of course!) As I'm completely bilingual, my manuscripts are in both languages. I'm here to get help with my blurbs, synopsis and query letters. Oh... And help with the title of the erotic novel... I've been told my current title isn't very 'English', which is possible, because I've been in France for euh.... many, many years :) When I've finished working out how to use Litopia, I'll try doing a poll. Thanks in advance for your help ! @AgentPete

Hey, Grubbles! Fellow expat in France and French-speaking Switzerland here. I can relate to the challenges of being removed from the English-speaking world, and struggling at times with the French that tends to insert itself into my English writing. Bienvenue!

Hello @Gubbles and welcome! Delighted you found us. We're a mixed bunch here on Litopia, which makes for lively discussions and lots of different styles and genres of writing. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

I'm one of the Guardians here. If you have any questions, please get in touch — happy to help any time. Look forward to seeing you around the Colony! :)

Welcome, @Gubbles. Lovely to have you join us. I like your "strange combinations," which indicate an interesting person and life, and no doubt plenty of grist to draw from for your writing. It'll be fun to get to know you and your creative work. I think you'll enjoy the Litopia community.

You've sparked a bit o nostalgia in me. Way back in the mid 70s I lived in Paris, working for a large French engineering firm (Technip--you may know it). I miss Paris. Those three years were magical for me.

Hi @Gubbles a very warm welcome to the colony.

Nice to have you here and hope you find Litopia a fun and informative community.

This is a good place to check out (How-to guide) to see a lot of what goes on in the colony.

If anything is unclear do please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist if I can.

Love the colony name. Sounds like a book or show for pre-schoolers.:)
