• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

They popped up on my Instagram feed with an ad for an unpublished fiction prize, but I've not heard of them, and IG can be full of scams and fakes.

Thanks!

It looks as legit as anything these days. I immediately saw stories that I could read and that had presumably been part of the contest. The dilemma in submitting to a magazine for publication is that no one tends to read them except people who have been published. It is something for your resume, but if it ties up your story so you cant submit elsewhere it is problematic. You've sold it for 10.00 sterling euro dollars whatever. With no guarantee of it ever reaching your target readers. Contests as long as you dont pay more than 25.00 seem better value to me if they are run by people who are actually into selling something, not just running a contest and you still own your copyright.
