• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

So, many years ago, when I lived in Italy, women were given sprigs of mimosa in celebration of International Women's Day - at supermarket checkouts, by flower sellers, by random people in the street. It was lovely, and mimosa remains one of my favourite flowers. To all my female friends I have had the honour of 'meeting' here on Litopia, I send you this bunch. (You don't get the perfume, but at least this will last and not go all dry and crunchy or give you hayfever ;) ). 1583659615074.png

Thank you Rachel... AH ha so you've lived in ltaly, have you Rachel? No mimosa this year, I'm afraid or celebrations... we're all barricaded in our own homes, at least here in the red zones, and socializing in general all over Italy is highly discouraged at the moment.

I lived in Rome for nearly ten years, but also worked as interpreter in Turin, Verona and Assisi (where I helped organise the WWF 25th anniversary). Spent quite a bit of time in Naples and near Salerno. I left my heart there.

Thank you very much Rachel. I had forgotten entirely that it was Women's Day but when I entered our office building there were people at the door giving out gift bags of scented soaps and cosmetic samples to each of the women who arrived. What a nice surprise.Screen Shot 2020-03-08 at 9.34.46 PM.png
