• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Perhaps you would like a little distraction from all the waiting from publishers/agents (much sympathy for that), and take a look at the Flash Fiction Club we have here? We would welcome your vote or contribution. Plus this month there is a prize! :)

Hi, I'm new here too. Welcome. I like the sound of your historical fiction/genre mashup... one of my projects which I'm nervous about continuing is sort of like this. It would be great to bounce some ideas off you (and hopefully vice versa). I'm English, but live in France, but this Colony thing breaks down the whole space/time continuum :)
Ha: I'm English, but used to live in Geneva, before moving to Cambridgeshire, and then on again. Il faut que nous allions all get together and yammer away in Franglosuisse, ca me ferait le plus grand plaisir et en plus it would be supergenial.

Hi Marc. That made me laugh. You lived in Cambridgeshire? Small world. That's where I live now. The anti-Switzerland. Some of the people in the village are ever so proud of the little hill nearby. Supergenial, it is, but my French is a tad rusty. I shall try mon best. I'm a German Swiss speaker. Gruezi.

We used to live in Cambridge, but no longer. It's got horribly crowded, as I'm sure you know, and all the new building is destroying its character. Such a shame. So we have retreated to the country; we've got some hills here, not like the Alps, but better than Cambridge and environs.

I didn't get to the German part of Switzerland as much as I should have, but I did make it as far as Berne once. Very nice!
