• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hello all -- looking forward to meeting you all. I write a mystery series focused on art forgery and set in Sicily, and have begun to try my hand at short stories and essays. But my latest project is a novel about a farm girl in Umbria who starts a fashion house, and as an elder during the pandemic, relives her past. I have published one short story and have an agent, but my mysteries have not yet found a publisher so I am revising the first one. I am eager to learn from all of you and continue to refine my skills, and maybe commiserate about the writer's life. So, howdy!

Welcome aboard @clairethompson :) Congrats on having an agent! Which project did they pick up?
The mysteries. She hasn't seen the novel yet b/c not finished. She sent the mystery out to about 10 places; 6 declined and 4 no response. Very frustrating but got some helpful and encouraging comments. A much longer haul than I expected!
