• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Dear Flashers

After some umm-ing and aaah-ing, I've decided that time has come for me to step down from the Flash Club and let some fresh blood seep into the competition. So, as of July, @Emily will be your new Flash Club Queen. She did such a grand job hosting it earlier this year, that I'll happily leave you in her very competent hands. I know she'll inject you with plenty of inspiration (and virtual cake) with her wonderful imagination and flair.

I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to all who have participated and supported the comp. You have amazing skills and talents, and you have created amazing worlds in sometimes only a few words. I always excitedly clicked on the alerts when a new entry was posted in the thread. So thank you all. Without you it wouldn't have been the fun place that it is. It's been a pleasure to be your Flash Chick for the past two plus years, and I've enjoyed myself tons.

So here you go, Emily. I'm handing you the baton. Over to you.
