This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Something for those of you who are novelists and are based in the North of England -

DHH Literary Agency are staging a pitching session in York on 1st December and they have 110 ten-minute slots available with their agents. If you want to get the chance, application details (fairly standard - letter, synopsis, first 5000) are here:

Important note: Deadline to submit is tonight for anyone interested.

I think I read somewhere that it's been extended to the 29th but - yes, thanks for saying the thing I forgot - fast action needed!

This is news to me - thanks so much for posting this.

Extended till 10 AM Monday morning. They had email issues, worried that subs had got lost. Publicised on twitter. Radio Leeds interviewed David Headley last week. He said he reads the letter, goes straight to your paragraph with your stated market positioning, eg 'this is an adult crime thriller that might appeal to readers of [INSERT TITLE.]' Then he stops and goes straight to the MS then back to the letter, and then maybe the synopsis.
