• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

It seems barely worth mentioning as all of you will by now have read, cover to cover, our copy of the quarterly publication by the Anthony Powell Society and seen my short story (with the above title) in it, written from the perspective of probably the most minor character in the famous 12-novel sequence. I only mention it in case you haven't put life on hold to read it yet.

Congrats! Is there a link?
Although in the AP Society we are of course a thoroughly modern, wirelessly connected group of buffers, the archiving of past issues seems only got to have reached 2014 so I attach Word document of the story for anyone who really has nothing else to do today.

Well-written, Bernard. This would be right at home within the fine pages of The Art of Personal Essay, as selected and introduced by Phillip Lopate. Which is a good read, by the way.
