• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

You may be interested in this idea, which I set up a few months ago with the National Film and Television School (NFTS) and has now just culminated.

Diploma students at the NFTS were commissioned to create commercials for my client Michelle Paver’s SKIN TAKER, the 8th book in her highly successful WOLF BROTHER series.

The NFTS regularly produces the next generation of UK film and television creative talent, and it’s likely that Michelle’s commercial may be directed by a future David Yates (“Harry Potter”), Terence Davies (“Distant Voices, Still Lives”), Sarah Gavron ( “Rocks”) or Nick Park (“Wallace and Gromit”) – all previous NFTS students. The NFTS was honoured with the 2018 BAFTA for Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema and the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. NFTS alumni have won 11 Oscars and 138 BAFTAs and been nominated dozens of times for each.

Here is the winning commercial, introduced by the young director:

What a wonderful commercial! A story in itself, which is what the best commercials are.

I enjoyed the insight into her creative process, too.

Inspiring :)
