• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I’ve previously posted about writers’ houses for sale:

Writers' Houses

Another Cornish property owned by a best-selling writer is fresh to the market.

Spy novelist John le Carré died in 2020. His home, Tregiffian Cottage, is in an isolated location on the coast near Saint Buryan:

John Le Carré: Cornwall home of spy author for sale

Estate Agent’s listing: Check out this 4 bedroom detached house for sale on Rightmove

At an asking price of £3,000,000, you’ll need to be a best-selling author yourself – or win the lottery.
Your money might not buy as much peace and seclusion as the photographs suggest, as the South-West Coastal Path runs along the boundary – hikers and keen readers bothered le Carré by knocking at his door. Also, Tater Du Lighthouse is nearby – the bellowing of its fog siren is relentless.
