• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

shamelessly self promote?
I made my first book trailer, and the book itself is coming out tomorrow on limited release (cheaper) on the publisher's website...Anyone interested in a review copy, let me know. I have four I can give out and a couple are already promised.

If I'm allowed, I'll do links.

We'll probably celebrate with you in your promotion. Nothing shameless in that. Congratulations are in order though. Well done.

Promote away - and very well done! Did you commission the music yourself?
No - I've been listening to Patrick Wolf for five or six years, and this was footage from a concert he did in Amsterdam some time ago. The book is part of a trilogy called Battalions of Oblivion, which is going to end up as a mash up of the Trojan War and Sumerian myth...that sounds bonkers, but I am hoping it will work.

It looks great, but what I don't pick up from the trailer is Joe's extraordinary ability for manifesting his dreams, or the metaphysical nature of the threat from Dolon.

Thank you for feedback, and you're right - what I learnt from this one was that I need to sit down with blurb and book for a good long time and script the trailer properly, with a decent storyboard so that the important aspects of the story come through. This one was about getting the basics of the iMovie process - importing pics, adding music and titles. I'm going to do another one for the general release of DG in June and hopefully that will be more polished.

Minion No1 and No2 took a look and face palmed, saying 'Mum, you are soo embarrassing...' I have work to do!
