Poetry April Snow

The World Between the Words
View attachment 11413

Night air: sharp,
But sweet scented.
Clear, fresh-water cold.

Voluptuous murmurs
from cows behind
sparse hedgerows.

Speckled sky of
Stars flickering.
April snow promised.
I love the preciseness of the single syllable words that cut through the ‘warmer’ adjectives of ‘scented, voluptuous murmurs (great description!), and flickering. I also liked the way you had the cows hunkered together in that middle stanza as though they were toughing it out between the night air and the flickering stars.
