The World Between the Words
This poem was just included in In the Midst: A Covid-19 Anthology.

2020 VISION

Look up, it’s lock down
The Boot is on our necks
COVID operations echo deafening peals
into the ripples of our fear
yours
smallness never collides conveniently with History.
It’s never a good time to wake up
just as you’re dying.

Wake up!
Democracy is By the people
for the people
By the people
For the people
Wake up
If you’re having a good time
is someone paying the price?
Follow the money—where are the strings?
Is someone counting the seconds
like he did
as his smallness collided?

Like an atom
we break
