@Jason L. Sorry, but I do not want to direct the discussion, but here are some questions that came up on my second reading, hoping Litopians will resonate with them. As @Bloo said, "What the hell did I just read?" Looking forward to Saturday's discussion.

So I do not miss it because of time zone shifts. Will this be at 11 AM or noon PM?

The writing class chapters, your thoughts? Thank God our huddles are nothing like that.

Eggs. What did you think of this motif?

Angela’s father or step-father, her habit of twisting truth? Did you sympathize with her?

Swenson’s procrastination about his writing and his molar, can you relate or did the molar seem heavy-handed symbolism?

What about his devotion to Sherrie, and their mutual possesiveness? Was Sherrie too much the perfect wife?

What about the coincidences between his life and the characters in Angela’s novel?

What did her daily habit of backing up her files say about Angela, or is that too obvious a question?

During the scene when Swenson helps Angela carry the new computer into her dorm room, the narrator says, “So they’ve got another gauntlet to run…” when gantlet was the correct term. Did you think this was intentional, to show Swenson’s imperfect writing skills, or a copy editor’s error?

In the scene where they attempt to make love, the narrator uses the word “arching” to describe one of Angela’s movements, just as the narrator did when describing an earlier scene of Sherrie and Swenson. What did you think of this?

What about the snake metaphor in this scene? Did it remind you of moon goddesses and ancient religions, or was it just scenery?

What about the exploding molar?

What about Angela Argo. Aside from the angelic and argonauts references, did she feel like a real person to you?

Enough of my ideas. I look forward to hearing yours.

Just to add to an already long list, what about the ending? You all know me. I wanted Swenson to move back to NYC with Magda, Lauren, and Angela sharing a flat with him, and, of course, Sherrie playing den mother. What did you think of the ending?

@Jason L. What time is this in the USA? I am guessing right after the huddle or an hour later. Please, I do not want to show up late for my own party.

Another point to discuss, if you have not watched the move, here's a link

Note that the novel has the same title, and the POV character also wrote a novel of that title, published to acclaim, and then goes down the same rabbit hole, though at the end he has an opportunity to escape it.

@Peyton Stafford, you can use this time zone calculator to find the times. I don't know where you are in the US so I added a few.
Thank you Lyse. You are very kind, but I am not stupid. Here is a screenshot of my calendar for the next seven days. Not much on it but my OCD writer scheduling, but you get the idea. Screenshot 2024-06-15 at 3.03.57 PM.png

@Peyton Stafford I did not mean to imply you were stupid. You asked twice in this thread about the time conversion, and you weren't getting any response, so I was just trying to answer and as I don't know where you lived in the US, I gave you the link.

If you have all those times on your calendar, I'm not sure why you were asking?

I wanted to be polite and respect your offer of help. I value your insights and think of you as a friend.
