• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

I came across on Friday this while cleaning out the files on my work computer. For those of you who don't know, this current job is coming to an end in a few short weeks. Not by choice. But I'll be able to take retirement benefits - which will basically pay for health care - and I have a new job lined up beginning mid-July. This one is PRN - per diem - meaning I choose my days and hours to work. :) Yeah. VERY excited about the free time to write and pursue hobbies I've had to let go of for so long. :)

So anyway... I was cleaning out files on my work computer and came across this. I saved it when our jobs were being moved out of state two years ago, and my family and I made the decision not to relocate another time for this company. That's when I moved into my current role, which is now also being eliminated, at least in this city.

As I read this, I realized it applies to pretty much anything in life - including a writing career. :) So, here it is, and I hope it helps. :)

14 Mantras to stick to your path, even when you're doubting yourself:

1. People have no idea what you're capable of.

2. Remember why you started, way back when.

3. Connect to the inner fire that inspires you.

4. Remember: patience pays off. What you desire is in the works. All great things take time.

5. Setbacks are usually blessings in disguise.

6. You have no idea what serendipitous meetings the universe has in store for you. Keep going.

7. Control is an illusion. No one is in control. Something bigger has your back.

8. Only you were given your vision and it is real. You don't have to share or explain it to anyone.

9. Any struggles along the way are building strength and knowledge that only life experience can give you.

10. You never know who you are inspiring to follow their own paths.

11. Remember the looks on peoples' faces who are genuinely inspired when you tell them your goals.

12. Focus on how inspired you have been by authenticity in the lives of others.

13. Authenticity always wins no matter how much it feels like you are losing at the time.

14. You are on a path to achieving your greatest dreams. Amazing.
